Traditional Stew at its best. Usually Cauliflower tends to break into pieces and you end up not knowing what you eating. With Wonderbag your stew cooks super slowly retaining all the nutrients, flavours and shape of your food. Try it out and see the difference. Braise 2 large onions with 1 kg of lamb pieces for 15 minutes till meat is brown Cut 3 potatoes into quarters and add into the pot. Continue to cook for 10 minutes. Cut up 1 large Cauliflower or 2 small ones and add to the pot and continue to cook a further 10 minutes submerging all potatoes into the sauce. Place closed pot into the Wonderbag for 3 hours to continue cooking. Place into Wonderbag Yummeee COmfort Food.. Serve with rice.

Coming from a traditional Indian background we enjoyed this dish very seldomly in our home while growing up but my mom would make a variety of dishes so that we are exposed to different cultures. My dad never cared for it and when this dish was prepared mom always had another small pot of curry on the side. All my siblings loved it and me and my family enjoy it very much especially on cold winter days. This is my rendition of a Kool Bredie. Braise 1 large Onion in 2 tablespoons of Oil Add 1 Kilo Lamb pieces And braise for 15 minutes on medium heat Add 4 Medium potatoes quartered and cook for further 10 minutes. Shred half a Cabbage and add to pot. Season with Salt and pepper, Stir well through ensuring that potatoes and meat are submerged into food. Also add 1 cup of water. Cook on medium heat for 5-7 min. Seal up Pot and place into Wonderbag Leave in Wonderbag for minimum of 2-3 hrs. Serve with Braised Rice. Normally I make stews with meat but thought I would try out something different. My family loved it. The warmth of stews make it the perfect meal for a cool Autumn evening. Step by Step recipe below Chop up 1 pepper and 1 onion and braise in 2 tablespoons of oil. Once Onions are braised, add 2 chopped tomatoes. and continue to cook till the mixture is soft and mushy Nice and Saucy, ready for the chicken Add about 1 kg clean skinless chicken pieces and 2 large cubed potatoes and carrots. To season it add some salt and pepper and bbq spice. Also add 2 tablespoon Tomato Sauce. Cook for 15 on low heat Before going into WOnderbag Dinnertime...Served with Fragrant white rice. This is a favourite among the little ones in my household. Chicken marinated and roasted. Served with roast potatoes and butternut and Sweet Yellow Rice. I am sure the kids would be happy to eat this dish everyday. Check out how i have used my Wonderbag to do this. The Chicken is marinated in BBQ Spice (Freddy Hirsch Special BBQ is my favourite). Lemon juice, crushed garlic, and some of Amina's Rib Marinade. I suppose you can use anything even some honey or jam to give it a sweet sour, hot taste) . I grilled the chicken in my George Forman ELectric Grill. You an use any griller. But As you can see the George Foreman griller allows all the fat to drip down..- yeah yeah i know i left the skin on naughty me...lol i usually remove the skin. The Potatoes and butternut i cut into wedges. and spices it up with some bbq spice and fried in a thin layer of oil in the pot. Veggies nice and toasty Pack the half done chicken on top of the veggies and seal the pot and cook for further 10 min on stove. Place in Wonderbag for about 2 hrs. Greetings all. I dont know about you but i Love love love boiled eggs. It is so versatile. Shredded and mixed with mayo and cucumber makes a delicious filling for a sandwich for school. Or plain salt and pepper on the side, a filling and nutritious snack filled with protein. Boiled Eggs are super easy made in the Wonderbag. Before bedtime place your eggs into a pot and cover with tap water. Place the pot onto your stove and bring to boil. Put stove off and place pot into Wonderbag. It just needs an hour or 2. but when you open up your WOnderbag the next morning your eggs will be perfect. The shells are easy to peal off as well. Enjoy.
I never ventured into the kitchen as a teen. Too lazy and disinterested to watch mum work her magic with the delicious indian dishes she cooked. After having to run my own kitchen for many years and trying to mimic her lamb curry i eventually discovered that the secret to get the taste to hers is using only the freshing unprocessed ingredients and in this case fresh garlic ginger paste. Ingredients 1-2 large Onions chopped and braised in Oil till soft and saucy (VERY IMPORTANT to have onions soft) Add 1 kg lamb pieces and continue braising for 15 minutes. Add the following spices : (1 tsp cayenne pepper/chilli powder, 2 tsp Coriander powder, 1 teaspoon cumin powder/jeera, 1 tsp Barishap powder aka Fennel, 1 tsp tumeric, 1 stick cinnacom and 2 cardoman pods) Add 1 tablespoon Garlic /ginger paste (Homemade is the best) 1 large grated tomato. Add about 1 tsp Salt to taste Continue slow cooking on stove for further 10 minutes (Total Cooking time exclusing braising of onions ...= 25 mnutes) Add a handful of chopped coriander and Place in Wonderbag for a minimum of 3 hours. Variations : 1. Add potatoes halfway through cooking, 2. For a richer curry add cream or coconut milk Enjoy with White braised rice or Naan bread Oooh this finger licking dish my close friend Zubeida and her lovely kids calls (Strong-enough) "stroganoff...lol..This is a real winner in our household tender cuts of beef folded in with juicy mushrooms and smothered in a peppery creamy sauce. Served with rice of penne or ribbon pasta its the ultimate comfort food..(I know i have many),.Follow my step by step tutorial and you can really wow your loved ones with a creation that takes minimal effort. The best thing about it, you can use cheaper cuts of beef which normally cooks for many hours to get it soft. Now you can save that energy used to cook these cheap cuts of beef in a fraction of the time on stove. Braise 1 large Onion or 2 small onions, 2 sticks of cinnamon and 2 cardamon pods in a Pot. ( i used a flat large based AMC pot. but any heavy based pot will do . After onions are braised soft add 1 chops yellow pepper/red pepper. 2. Once its well braised ...add about half kilo steak. You can use cheap cuts of beef as well since it will slow cook for several hours. 3. AFter cooking for 20 min on stove (give 30 min for beef pieces ) add 1 punnet mushrooms sliced. and cook for another 5 minutes place in Wonderbag for about 4 hrs. minimum Do not open the pot. 4. Once opened after 4 hrs everything is cooked now you add the creamy ingredient: CREAM half cup will do..If you dont like cream then 1 tablespoon of flour mixed in with some milk will suffice. (Thats what i used ) and just give a quick cook on stove and serve. Yummy read to eat with white rice or ribbon pasta or penne pasta. Theres a fine line with overcooking fish or having it just right. Thanks for your ideas ladies. To make the masala, braise 1 onion in some oil till soft ad translucent. add 1 tomato grated. Add spices (Chilli POwder, jeera, koljana powdered, tumeric, and freshly pounded garlic and ginger paste) jeera seeds also great option. 1 tsp tamarind add some water and allow masala to simmer for about 5 minutes. Add the slices of fresh snoek.. Allow to cook for 3 minutes..top with fresh coriander and place in wonderbag to continue cooking the fish In Bag minimum about an hour or 2 Ready and steaming hot..and fish is soft and succulent..not dry I've been demoing the Akhni but hardly shared my recipe yet :) so here goes the recipe for the Akhni.. Its so super easy i dont see the point of buying when u can make your own pot. its like curry and rice in one pot.! Braise 1 large Onion in some oil till soft Add 1 kg of lamb pieces and 1 tablespoon garlic ginger paste Add 1 large grated tomato Add spices (1 tsp cayenne powder/chilli powder, 1 tsp borrie, 2 tsp koljana powder, 1 tsp jeera, 1 tsp barishap, 1 stick cinnamom, 2 pods karamonk) you can add more spices if you like for a spicier akni .) Let this mixture cook for 15 minutes on stove. then add 2 quartered potatoes.and some diced carrots if you like. Cook for further 10 minutes then add 2 cups basmati rice and 2.5 to 3 cups of boiling water. The water must cover all the rice Add half cup buttermilk , a stick of pure butter and fresh koljana.boil a further 5 minutes. When it goes into the wonderbag there must still be water in the pot. Check picture below. Leave in Wonderbag for at least 3-4 hours... NB:Chicken Akhni needs less time on stove. The Akhni looks like this when it goes into the Wonderbag. After about 3-4 hours in the Wonderbag ....It is ready to serve. With Dhai (combination of buttermilk and finely crushed green chillies garlic and koljana and seasoned with salt) or sambals.. |
